Cary man charged in fatal downtown Raleigh crash
A Cary man surrendered to police Tuesday and was charged in a fatal crash in downtown Raleigh six weeks ago, police said.

Dominick Antoine Downing, 24, was charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired and careless and reckless driving. He was being held in the Wake County jail under a $50,000 bond.
Police said Downing was southbound on South Dawson Street early on Nov. 11 when he lost control of his 2008 Honda sedan as it crossed the intersection of South Dawson and Cabarrus streets. The car slid sideways, striking a curb and then a guardrail, which penetrated the passenger area of the vehicle.
Kaylen Lamaar Downing, 21, of Raleigh, who was in the front passenger seat, was thrown from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the car was traveling at about 70 mph when it went out of control. The speed limit on South Dawson Street is 35 mph.
Dominick Downing received life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized at WakeMed, police said.
