I taught Andrew in middle school. I am sorry he made this choice. He was a sweet, polite, intelligent young man. I cannot imagine what led him to do this.

Most lists I searched for 2012 and even 2013 so far don't even show Cary in the top 20... Phyxius1

Apparently you didn't look very hard.

Cary is #5 safest in the country for cities 100-499k population.

Cary has been in the top 20 safest cities for many years, and continues to be.

Apologies as I did not see that one list. Can you reference where it came from? I did check about 5 other lists and they did not show Cary in them.Parenting, Forbes, Business Insider, Neighborhood crime stats,Info-please.com, City data and etc. If you check you will see that not all studies make Cary safest in their lists.
Not bashing Cary as people imply just stating if all these crime stories continue to occur the rates will also change, even if arrested same day. I like how some Cary residents get so mad at people implying bad about Cary but the same users will bash Durham/Raleigh/Wake..How is that different??

daisy14 ~ thank you! We Cary residents get tired of the bashing -- it's unfair and uncalled for but children will be children, I guess, no matter what their age is.

He is looking at 20 years.

@dh1964, people get mad about that all the time. First, not realizing that bond is to ensure a court appearance if released. Second, possibly assuming that they have to pay it as a fine for what they've been accused (not convicted) of.

Not surprising thinking from someone who says "screw all banks and officials". If they'll generalize all banks and officials (or anything else) that much they obviously don't have the depth to think past their nose before posting

Cary is one of the safest cities, PER CAPITA. About 140,000 people live in Cary, 416,000 in Raleigh and 233,000 in Durham so can you really compare them, probably not. Cary doesn't claim to be CRIME-FREE! Geeshhh, people. Stop already with the ridiculous comments about Cary and their PD. I don't even live in Cary and it drives me nuts hearing the childish comments every time they are in the news! This robber was in custody within HOURS of robbing a bank. Good job CPD!

I see that the Cary bashers are surfacing again from the
bottom. Maybe they would like to tell us all where they live,
why it is so great, and what the crime level is there.

LOL... what world are you living in? Cary is consistently ranked as one of the safest towns in America. The kid was caught the very same day.BlueDevils00

May not be for long if all the bank and store robberies and child porn arrests keep happening. Cary is hitting the crime headlines a lot more now than they have in the last few yrs. Cant ride that "one of the safest towns " wave forever with reports going up. BTW Neighborhoodscout.com doesn't even list Cary in the top 100 for 2012. Most lists I searched for 2012 and even 2013 so far don't even show Cary in the top 20...
