Cary looks to stop 'booger' and 'snot' graffiti

Posted May 21

— Investigators are looking for whoever is responsible for spray-painting the words "booger" and "snot" throughout Cary in recent months.

Capt. Don Hamilton with the Cary Police Department said that, since January, the graffiti has covered at least 20 businesses, apartment complexes, roadside signs and parks inside or just outside the Maynard Road loop.

None of the vandalism has caused permanent damage, and police believe it is meant to be harmless fun.

Hamilton, however, said clean-up is costly can't be overlooked.

Anyone with information that can help investigators is asked to call the police department at 919-469-4012 or Cary Crime Stoppers at 919-460-4636.

I'm sure Cary can handle both violent crimes and property damage; do some of the posters here think they should just ignore it? I don't live in Cary, but it's a beautiful town and graffiti is blight. It seems to me that all graffiti looks the same (usually gang-graffiti); I wonder if there's some sort of weird font template somewhere these people copy!

You obviously don't like Cary. Why don't you tell us all where you live and what is so great about your town. Also, tell us why your town police department is so wonderful.

That's right, we only have one police officer, and he is busy with graffitti. Use your common sense. I'm sure the Cary PD is acting on any information they have about that rape. Just because they are trying to get the community informed of another issue does not mean they have just given up on "real crime".

Funny what makes the news in Cary.

Yeah, it's a shame we don't have the rapes, murders, robberies, and child sex slavery issues that Raleigh, Fayetteville, and Durham have.

Besides, what better way to get the word out about this issue than to put it on the news. Makes people aware of it and may lead to tips that stop this crime.

On another note, this graff is just plain weak. No skill there, any yahoo with a paint marker can do this. Normally I'm a fan of urban art, but this is just cheap tagging.

I'm thinking that once this "Booger" crowd noses into the community thing might blow.
I suspect this is a slick bunch that should be wiped quickly! Nothing to be sneezed at by the CPD.

Maybe it's a teaser ad for a new band called Tenacious Snot and the Mucus Membranes.

Shouldn't the Cary PD be devoting all of their resources to catching soccer-moms in mini vans rolling stop signs and teenage boys trying to peek up girls skirts? They need to stop wasting time on this and go after the real criminals. It's time to clean up this town!

    It's the dangerous Booger Gang!

They thought it was booger, but it's snot.
