Here's another event to add to our long list of weekend activities (check our weekly Weekend Plans post for many more):

The town of Cary will mark the end of National Police Week by celebrating safety and neighborhood unity from noon to 3 p.m., Sunday, in and around the new Downtown Park, 319 S. Academy St.

You'll get to meet town of Cary police and fire crews and cheer them on during strength challenges; watch K9 demonstrations; explore police and fire vehicles; and learn about Cary’s numerous safety initiatives. There also will be a Kids Fun Zone and food trucks onsite.

Those attending Public Safety Day are encouraged to park at Town Hall Campus and throughout downtown Cary. Because of the event, a portion of Academy Street will close from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday.
