Cary hit-and-run 'not a random act'

A 16-year-old student at Green Hope High School died late Friday after being injured in a hit-and-run crash in Cary, police said.

CARY, N.C. — A 16-year-old student at Green Hope High School died late Friday after being injured in a hit-and-run crash in Cary, police said.

According to investigators, Katherine Burdick-Crow, of Cary, was hit at about 9:20 p.m. on Lawrence Road near Walnut Street.

She was taken to WakeMed, where she later died.

According to officials, the crime was "not a random act."

No arrests have been made in the crash, and authorities have not released any information about a possible suspect vehicle.
