"You are defensive because I pointed out the hypocrisy in your comments when you said that other legal users of the road were “annoying” and don't belong there unless they abide by *your* rules...which is contrary to the actual, legal, rules of the road."

Not once did I blame the victim. If you want to continue to misconstrue and misread my comments or twist them into something they aren't there is nothing I can do about it (shrug).

@back in the saddle, if you forgot, you started your comments here by blaming the victim...the cyclist...for presumably breaking laws. Then, you had hateful (“you don’t belong”) comments to other legal users of the road.

When I point this out, you say that *I* am the hateful one. IMO, this equates to a smoker being mad at me for telling them that they can’t smoke in the non-smoking section. (shrug)

You are defensive because I pointed out the hypocrisy in your comments when you said that other legal users of the road were “annoying” and don't belong there unless they abide by *your* rules...which is contrary to the actual, legal, rules of the road.

"If you think you are more entitled the road than others, then you are a huge problem with a mentality shared by folks who have killed pedestrians, cyclists, children going to the school bus, etc."

I have not said once I felt more entitled to the road nor that my time was more important than anyone else...I do not speed nor do I make any traffic moves that endanger myself or others. You know nothing about me so please back off the haranguing and consider getting help for your obvious anger issues. I find your post to be full of uncalled for venom and take great offense to your comment "who have killed pedestrians, cyclists, etc." I assure you I have an absolutely spotless driving record and I got it by being a safe driver.

“I am not the problem on the road’

If you think you are more entitled the road than others, then you are a huge problem with a mentality shared by folks who have killed pedestrians, cyclists, children going to the school bus, etc.

“[anywho who] cannot travel at a reasonable speed should not be allowed to impede the flow of traffic and put themselves and others at risk.”

Yes, your time is much more valuable than everyone elses. They need to clear YOUR roads of garbage trucks, old people, school buses, city utility vehicles/signs/traffic cones, UPS trucks, farmers, pedestrians in crosswalks,... They’re just slowing you down. Wah!

Do you realize that the “risk” of which you speak is your own creation? You have tunnel vision trying to get from A to B as quickly as possible, regardless of who else is *legally* sharing the road. Other people aren’t perfect, but your Entitled mentality, coupled with a 3000+ lb weapon, is creating tremendous risk.

    The Golden Rule is your

djuraevn2 - So sorry this happened to your brother and also sorry that you had to read some of these comments. I hope he recovers quickly and best wishes to your brother, you and your family.

"Wow. You need to get off the road right now...and be required to read your Driver’s Manual and be tested on it.

YOU are the problem. Your self-entitled I-CAN’T-WAIT attitude is what kills cyclists, pedestrians, highway workers, garbage men, school bus children, etc."

FYI ~ I have been driving for 30+ years and have a spotless driving record. I am not the problem on the road and stand by my opinion that anyone - regardless of their "vehicle" -- who cannot travel at a reasonable speed should not be allowed to impede the flow of traffic and put themselves and others at risk.

@djuraevn2 - Don't listen to the folks on here, you will find much negativity. I wouldn't take aything personally that is said here as it will get under your skin and make you angry.

Quite honestly I don't know how anyone can pass judgment on either person involved when the article is made up of four sentences and lacks some of the basic journalistic questions.

The victim here is my brother because whenever i ride my bike with him anywhere he always follows the laws and never drives on the roads. And whenever we cross the street he opus hes the button and waits for the walk sign. The reason my brother was hit was because he was polite and he let the other students cross first and then he went and the ignorant lady who was driving her car should have stopped when she saw another car that was also stopped on the right lane waiting for the students to cross but this lady went on ahead and kept driving and thats when she hit him. So everyone should get that thought out of their heads that my brother was ignorant. I am not just saying this because hes my brother. You can ask anyone he knows and they will say he is a responsible and polite ping man.

@dcatz, bicycles are just as “entitled” to the road as cars. Is that really so hard to understand? It’s the law. So, yes, you may have some of your “precious time taken up” by pedestrians, school buses, garbage trucks, etc. Plan accordingly.

@dcatz said, “I am tired of [obeying the law]...”

Really? Well, you may soon be hearing these words from a judge, “Is that your defense, Mr. Dcatz, before I sentence you to life in prison for killing a biker?”

@dcatz, said, “I am sorely tempted to put a cow catcher on the front of my vehicle [for bicyclists]”

Yep. Mr. Road Rage. You will be going to jail for a long time, sir.

And, you may want to know that most of us bikers are not a bunch of yahoos like so many commenting here on GOLO. We're educated doctors, scientists, lawyers, etc. who are often in excellent physical (and financial) shape. Keep that in mind the next time you think you know biking laws better than we do and that you can "teach a lesson" as you
