— Moore County sheriff's deputies on Thursday arrested a Carthage man accused of sexually assaulting two victims under 12 years old.

Joshua James Reeves, 27, of 130 Greenwood Lane, faces two counts each of indecent liberties with a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and sexual battery. He was placed in the Moore County jail under a $75,000 secured bond and is due in court Aug. 26.

The charges are the result of a month-long investigation by the sheriff's office and Department of Social Services, which was opened when a Carthage family called authorities to report an assault on a child.

    signofthetimes -

Our sister sheltered her children like that until they entered college where they had no clue of how to act or make decisions in the real world.

The best protection one can give children is to supervise them closely and teach them how to make the best decisions for a happy and successful life.

A 27-year old "uses" two children under 12-years of age and only gets a $75,000 bond? What's wrong with Moore County, or do they condone that type of thing. The bond for that should NEVER be less than $1M.

There's only one cure for those who use children like this, and I'm sure I won't be able to say it here.

Praying for the children. Praying their parents get a clue, fast!!!

dwntwnboy2 is absolutely correct signofthetimes. Are you really going to shield your grandson from the world? What you should do is teach him what is inappropriate and not hide him from it.

"I hate to think he is out of our sight for a moment with all the pervs out there today"- the sad part is, most abused children are abused by family members or someone they know and not strangers. You need to keep an eye on your kids with family just as close as you would a stranger because many of the "pervs" you mentioned are beside us the whole time.

This is the very reason, and all the other stories about this at schools, that will keep me inspired to home school my grandson when he is ready to begin school. I hate to think he is out of our sight for a moment with all the pervs out there today!

How many stories like this have we seen just this year? When will adults get the message to keep their hands off the kids? I can't imagine the stress a parent must go through when these stories just keep popping up over and over and over again- I'ld be a nervous wreck. Hoping that adults out there keep seeing these arrests and think twice about touching a child.
