Investigators from the Carteret County Sheriff's Office and Atlantic Beach Police Department are searching for Justin Zubovic, 14, of Morehead City, and his girlfriend, Alexis Mesiemore, 12, of Atlantic Beach.

Both left home around 9 p.m. Monday and haven't been seen since.

Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said the two were seen in the vicinity of Falls of Neuse Road and Interstate 540 at approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Anyone who believes they might have seen either of the children are urged to call 911 immediately, Sughrue said.

Zubovic is white, stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds.

Mesiemore, who goes by Lexi, is white, stands 4 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 97 pounds.

Just why did these two run away from home? What kind of problems are lurking in the homes? There has to be a reason for them to up and leave.

how did these children get from Carteret Co. to Raleigh. Thats a 2.5 hour drive, cant imagine what it would be on foot or bicycle. Hope they are found safe.

romeo and juliet...probably a lot of innocence in their behavior but the world they are out in is not.

12 years old! and he's only 14! Wonder how they got here and how anyone knew who they were to have spotted them.

You know, some pictures of the runaways would be nice if you want people to call 911 if they see them, it would be nice to have an idea what they look like so people don't send the cops on a wild goose chase. I'm serious.
