Carrboro's ArtsCenter offers new workshops for parents

The workshops focus on enhancing your child's literacy experiences and dancing your way through math.

The ArtsCenter in Carrboro is offering some new workshops for parents in May and June.

Here's what's scheduled with descriptions from The ArtsCenter:

6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., May 16: Susie Wilde is the instructor. As a parent, you are the first and most important teacher for your child, and it is often up to you to ensure your child finds pleasure in learning. Join us for this hands-on examination of books for elementary school students and learn playful methods to enhance your child's literacy experiences.
6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., June 3. Katie Moorehead is the instructor. Math and dance might seem like two different worlds, but they are more linked than you might think. Come dance, move and play to learn new strategies for improving your child’s math skills. This workshop will focus on understanding sequences - recognizing patterns, creating and manipulating a series of movements, and then understanding a variety of geometry math concepts. Through movement, you will learn to make number sequencing fun and make multiplication facts more exciting! No dance experience is needed, but be prepared to move around.

Each workshop is $10, which is paid at the beginning of the workshop. They take place at The ArtsCenter. Pre-registration is required.
