CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carowinds announced plans Thursday for an expansion and new name for the water attractions at the Charlotte amusement park.

The park's "aquatic playground" will be re-named Carolina Harbor Waterpark, and access will be included with Carowinds admission, which starts at $49.99 per person with advance purchase.

The expansion will double the number of water slides at the park and will include a new family play area.

Carolina Harbor will include two new restaurants, sand volleyball courts and additional cabanas and seating.
