CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Just in time for summer, Carowinds amusement park has announced the opening of its 27-acre waterpark.

The Carolina Harbor Waterpark officially opens to the public on Saturday at 11 a.m. The new park is double the size of the previous, Bomerange Bay park, and boasts twice as many attractions.

Some highlights include:

  • Blackbeard’s Revenge - a new flagship six-story tall waterslide complex
  • Two-acre family area which features popular coastal town names, Kiddy Hawk Cove and Myrtle Turtle Beach;
  • Seaside Splashworks - a multi-level play structure with more than 80 play elements and a giant 423-gallon tipping bucket that soaks everything in its path
  • Surf Club Harbor - a new 27,000 square foot wave pool

In addition, the park added 2,000 new lounge and pool side chairs and about 30 new cabanas. Guests can dine from the poolside Schooners Beach Bar and catch a bite at the Harbor House restaurant, which has two 2,400-square food outdoor patios.

Entry to the waterpark is included with the price of Carowinds admission.
