The Carolina Hurricanes holds its 15th annual Caniac Carnival from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., today, Friday, at the PNC Arena.

The Carolina Hurricanes holds its 15th annual Caniac Carnival from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., today, Friday, at the PNC Arena.

Admission and parking are free for this. You can take advantage of some food and drink discounts too.

The carnival, a big event, takes place inside and outside the arena. It includes a free Carolina Hurricanes Red-White scrimmage, an autograph session with players, inflatables, games, a zone for kids, live music and appearances by Stormy and the Storm Squad. According to the team's website, there will be more than 50 inflatables, interactive displays and corporate booths, plus a beer garden and food trucks.

In addition to those kinds of activities, you'll actually get to see some hockey played. 

You don't need a ticket to see the scrimmage. It's general admission. All seats between sections 115 and 130 are open to the public. Just enter the East and South entrances of the arena to take your seat. They'll play two 15-minute period with a stopped clock. The scrimmage includes one intermission and two stoppages for promotions, contests and fan cams.

After the scrimmage will be a three man shootout.

Inside the arena, fans can get free cotton candy and popcorn. Hot dogs will be $1 each. Sodas will be available for $2. For more information, including the full schedule and details on the autograph session (which is limited to the first 600 fans), check the Hurricanes' website.
