The internet is a big place. Unless you're 100% plugged in all the time (and let's be clear, that is NOT recommended), you're going to miss some stuff.

Let us do that work. You can be a well-adjusted human being and still catch all the best sports moments of the week, with a quick review...

Tar Heels take round one

The greatest rivalry in college basketball renewed on Saturday night, with North Carolina dispatching Duke in Chapel Hill, 93-84.

To be frank, the game didn't seem as close as the final score would indicate. UNC was in control throughout, trailing Duke for a grand total of 16 seconds.

Freshman Harrison Ingram and super senior Armando Bacot were the stars of the show, each notching a 20-point double-double on a combined 18/25 from the field.

That's superb.

The Tar Heel faithful seem to be giving the slight nod to Ingram as the player of the game. His hot shooting from deep was a major factor in seizing momentum, as was his defensive effort with 4 steals and a block,
Once the game was over, a few Carolina players including senior guard Cormac Ryan, made their way to Franklin Street to celebrate.

The Notre Dame transfer is in his final year of eligibility, so this year will be his only crack at the rivalry. Kudos to him for soaking in the moment after a great win.

The rematch is less than five weeks away. Duke will host North Carolina for the regular season finale on March 9.

Derrick Brown helps power NFC in Pro Bowl Games

Panthers defensive tackle Derrick Brown certainly made an impact at his first career Pro Bowl on Sunday.

No, the big fella wasn't catching passes in the flag football portion of the festivities, but he did show off his brute strength to help the NFC win the "Gridiron Gauntlet."

Brown was the anchor leg in the team obstacle course, teaming up with Vikings long snapper Andrew DePaola on the blocking sled, and pushing the NFC over the finish line.
Then, it was total domination in the tug of war. Brown and (North Carolina native) Dexter Lawrence held down the back end as the NFC easily pulled their way to victory.

I know it's not exactly a must-watch event (I don't know anybody who watches the whole thing live), but I'm actually a fan of this new Pro Bowl format.

It's fun, plus it's very easy to find individual clips for your favorite player and highlights (which, let's be honest, is all anybody cares about).

Congrats to DB and the NFC!

Canes streaks broken at NHL All-Star Game

Things didn't go quite as well for Sebastian Aho at the NHL All-Star Game this weekend.

The Hurricanes center didn't embarrass himself or anything like that. In fact, he was one of the stars of the night at the Red Carpet event and looked rather dashing in his turtleneck.

But on the ice, the harsh reality is that two different All-Star streaks came to an end.

The first was not Aho's fault at all. The NHL did not select him as one of the 12 participants in the skills competition, ending a three-year run for the Hurricanes having an event winner.

(Jaccob Slavin won Accuracy Shooting in 2020, Aho won Accuracy Shooting in 2022 and Andrei Svechnikov won Fastest Skater last year. There was no All-Star Game in 2021.)

The NHL deserves some flak for this one. You simply have to be aware of a streak like this and at least give a Canes player a chance to keep it going.

Granted, Connor McDavid was on a heater on Saturday so it may not have mattered, but not having Aho out there was a mistake. Plain and simple.

The other streak that perished was Aho's personal record in the game itself. In his previous two trips, Aho's team was a perfect 4-0 in the three-on-three single-elimination main event.

This year, as part of Team MacKinnon, Aho fell short in a shootout in the semifinal round... but even that wasn't totally his fault. He was jinxed in this interview the night before!

Luckily for Aho, he should have a chance to do a lot more winning as the Hurricanes look to finish the regular season.

Carolina is on a bit of a heater, sporting a 7-2-1 record over their last ten. Here's hoping they can maintain that form and come out strong this week coming out of the break.

NC State WBB scores two more ranked wins

Is this Wes Moore's best team yet? That would be saying a lot, but this Wolfpack squad is special.

NC State topped two more AP ranked teams this week, bringing their season total to five. That's tied with UConn and South Carolina for the most in the country. Elite company.

The Pack are capable of grinding out a defensive slugfest, just as they did Thursday in a 63-59 win over North Carolina. Or they can get hot and flat out run away from you, like they did when they beat Louisville 77-67 on Monday.

Both wins were especially meaningful.

UNC is obviously a rival, but Wolfpack Nation seems to bring a little extra juice against coach Courtney Banghart's squad ever since she called Reynolds Coliseum a "small gym" in 2022.

Monday was Play4Kay Night, honoring the legacy of the late great Wolfpack coach Kay Yow as well as those who have battled cancer. Simply put, it's one of the best traditions in college basketball.

After such an emotional rivalry game, it would have been understandable for a lesser team to come out flat just a few days later. But not this NC State team.

The Pack blitzed the Cardinals on their way to a 17-point halftime advantage, and served as the perfect lead-in to an inspiring celebration during intermission.

Let's not forget, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year for NC State. They didn't start the season ranked. But after watching this team this week (and really all season save for a hiccup at Miami), I'm convinced that this is the team that will break the 26-year drought and get back to the Final Four.

And once they make it, who knows? They might just win the whole dang thing.

Top play helps Keatts to career milestone

It was a good week for the Wolfpack men as they try to play their way back into the NCAA Tournament discussion. (Brace yourselves, it could be a historically down year for the ACC.)

NC State grabbed a couple of home wins over Miami and Georgia Tech, reaching a couple milestones in the latter contest.

Head coach Kevin Keatts picked up career win No. 200 in Saturday's 82-76 triumph over the Yellow Jackets. 128 of those wins have come in Raleigh, where he's on pace for his fifth 20-win season in seven tries.

The Wolfpack also picked up the No. 1 play on Sportscenter's top plays of the night, courtesy of junior guard Jayden Taylor.

Taylor started off a little wild, tossing up on airball on an out-of-control shot attempt, but followed it with pure poetry in motion.

Laying flat on his back, Taylor reached over the end line and saved the loose ball from going out of bounds. Then, while still on the ground, he alertly fired an assist to Michael O'Connell for three.

Basketball barber shop

College students will do just about anything to get the opposing team to miss free throws.

Arizona State is probably the most famous student section in the country when it comes to this art form thanks to the "Curtain of Distraction," but little-known Oakland University in Michigan has now entered the chat as well.

In Saturday's game against Cleveland State, a group of dudes in the Oakland student section decided it'd be great to shave each other's heads while th Vikings were taking free throws.

The clip cuts out before you can see the result (do better @OaklandMBB). This particular trip to the line ended 1/2. For the game, Cleveland State shot 8/13 on free throws (61%) and lost by 12, so the shave stunt proved to be pretty effective.

Only problem I see is you may have to wait at least a month to try this stunt again with the same effect. Either that or recruit more dudes who are willing to step into the barber's chair.

Major points for creativity, fellas! Well done!

TAYLOR SWIFT WATCH

No doubt, this is the biggest week yet for our buds Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Taylor won her 13th Grammy award on Sunday night, this one for Best Pop Vocal Album, and used her acceptance speech to send the internet into total a meltdown.

Rather than a re-recording of her 6th studio album Reputation (which was heavily rumored leading into the show), Swift announced a brand new album instead -- The Tortured Poets Department.

So that's happening, all while Travis gets ready to play IN THE DANG SUPER BOWL in just a few days.

Taylor is expected to make the flight from Tokyo (where she has a concert the night before) to be there for her boo's big night. Now the question is... will Travis propose???

You can actually bet on this in Canada right now. Odds of a "yes" are +1120 (meaning if you bet $100 you would win $1,120), so a pretty big longshot, but America can dream, can't they?

Just imagine -- Travis racks up 10 catches for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns, wins Super Bowl MVP, then gets engaged on the field to the biggest pop star on the planet.

Can you think of a more iconic love story?

Of course, there will be plenty of people who continue to hate on our king and queen, and for those individuals, I leave you with some wise words from Charles Barkley and Colin Cowherd (no, seriously, those two guys).

See you next week!
