Carolina Beach's Boardwalk Could Soon Get Hotel

Posted May 30, 2007

— The boardwalk at Carolina Beach could soon have a new attraction: a 100,000-square-foot hotel.

Two existing buildings would be demolished to make room for the 10-story, 200-room hotel. It will feature indoor and outdoor pools and a cafe.

Residents and the builders hope the hotel helps revitalize the area.

Living near carolina beach there really is nothing to offer anyone, so why there going to spend more money to build another over price hotel is crazy. The best thing is the doughnuts. They should update the movie theather, build another smal water park, and maybe some mini golf and race cars. Something for the kids.

Although the new hotel will be a boost for the area, part of the charm of Carolina Beach is the lack of lots of hotels. As long as I can still get a fresh doughnut on the boardwalk, I'll be happy!!!

Carolina Beach was 'the place' due to so many things for kids and families. A hotel by itself will get some folks down, but it needs to have more.

It is a shame that the thinking is, 'Let's tear down the old, colorful landmards and put up a new, expensive hotel. That'll bring 'em back'.

Carolina Beach was once "THE PLACE" to go if you were going to the beach, but that was back in late 60's early 70's. After that, it was Atlantic or Myrtle Beach cause they had more to offer. Sure hope this "hotel" does the trick for them. Maybe I would consider a trip back.
