RALEIGH, N.C. — The state Employment Security Commission began accepting applications Monday from people interested in working at the North Carolina State Fair, which opens Friday and runs through Oct. 21.

“The State Fair is a great opportunity for those individuals seeking part-time work,” ESC Chairman Harry Payne said in a statement. “Working at the State Fair can be both fun and entertaining while making money at the same time.”

The ESC opened a Job Service facility at Gate 10, at the intersection of Blue Ridge and Trinity roads. The office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through the last day of the fair. Although most jobs are filled during the week before the fair opens, some workers quit during the event, creating additional openings, officials said.

Anyone interested in a State Fair job needs to bring his or her Social Security card and photo identification to apply.

For more information, call Andy James or Larry Parker of the ESC’s Public Information Office at 919-733-4329.
