Caravan to honor memory, raise money for slain Edgecombe women
Money collected from the $10 entry fee will be donated to members of Parents & Relatives of the Missing & Murdered, a support group for families of the nine women killed.
Posted — UpdatedThe Street Soldiers Motorcycle Club is hosting a motorcycle and car caravan at 8:30 p.m. Friday that will begin at the Gateway Complex in Rocky Mount and end at Seven Bridges Road.
At 11 a.m. Saturday, the club will host a charity ride from the Gateway Complex to Tarboro.
Money collected from the $10 entry fee will be given to members of Parents & Relatives of the Missing & Murdered, a support group formed by loved ones of the victims.
The nine women disappeared from Rocky Mount over a four-year period and the subsequent discovery of their bodies in different locations in the Rocky Mount area rattled the community.
Some believe one man – Antwan Pittman – is responsible for all of their deaths. A 10th woman with a similar profile is still missing.
Pittman's lawyers last month requested a new trial. They're challenging 70 items from his original trial.
