Durham, N.C. — Durham police on Wednesday morning were investigating a shooting on North Elizabeth Street that caused a car to crash into a utility pole.
The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. near Gilbert Street, officials said. Police found shell casings in the area bullet holes in the vehicle. Police said the utility pole involved in the wreck was snapped in two.
Investigators said they didn't know whether a person on the street opened fire on the moving car or if the shots came from another vehicle that left the scene.
