— Cary police said that a black Saturn Ion ran off West Dynasty Drive, near Sudbury Drive, and struck a tree Saturday morning, injuring a woman.

Samuel Ewing III, 22, told police that he fell asleep at the wheel. He was OK, Sgt. A. Gazaway said.

His sister, Jessica Ewing, who was a passenger, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She was listed in good condition at WakeMed.

Gazaway said that alcohol wasn't a factor in the wreck and they did not plan to file charges.

Did the tree hit back? It sounds like the car was looking for a fight.

Remember people, this is the Peoples Republic of Cary, where no one is guilty of a crime.....they're just a little "misdirected."

Oh...and what makes it even worse... someone went through the trouble to add a picture of the car. That wasn't there the first time I read the article. Must STILL be a slow news day!!

Just because there's a car accident ..doesn't mean there are always charges filed. Thank goodness!! Our courts are already backed up enough. I would rather see drug dealers, robbers, people who kill, rape..etc... go to court rather than a kid that fell asleep at the wheel and hit a tree.

I agree with everyone about this being a slow news day!! When I read the article I wondered why this even made it to the news.

"I would imagine charges are not being filed because it was his sister that was with him. I'm sure the family doesn't want to charge their own son/brother."

I don't think it matters whether the family wants to file chargers or not. Even if nobody else was in the car he could still get in trouble for failing to control his vehicle.

Doesn't that car know that you aren't allowed to hit a tree in Cary? The tree might hit it back and then the teacher will have to stop the fight. What a rubbish headline.

I would imagine charges are not being filed because it was his sister that was with him. I'm sure the family doesn't want to charge their own son/brother. Sounds like an unfortunate accident to me. Alochol or drugs were not a factor. I would imagine the family is just thankful everyone was okay and that he didn't hit another vehicle.
