No one was hurt Wednesday night when a car was hit by an Amtrak train on Garner Road at Vandora Springs Road in Garner.

No one was hurt Wednesday night when a car was hit by an Amtrak train on Garner Road at Vandora Springs Road in Garner.

The Silver Star, which was traveling from New York City to Miami, hit the vehicle at 10:21 p.m., authorities said.

The train was carrying 162 passengers and crews, and no injuries were reported.

No further information was immediately available.

    Other news sources are reporting that the driver vacated the car, prior to the collision. the N&O is reporting that the driver has been arrested for driving while impaired, leaving the scene of an accident and resisting an officer.

    I'm sure Amtrak is getting tired of fixing front end damage on these locomotives because of idgets.

    No word on the driver? Other than they're obviously not too bright.
