Car goes airborne over railroad tracks, injures two
Two people were injured Saturday morning after their car hit some railroad tracks, flew into the air and crashed into an embankment on Old Mount Olive Highway in Wayne County.
Posted — UpdatedAccording to the state Highway Patrol, Eve Pfeifer Harris, of Goldsboro, was unfamiliar with the area, ran a stop sign and lost control when she hit the tracks shortly after 4:30 a.m. The car came to rest in a field about 130 feet away, troopers said.
Harris and her passenger, Christopher Byrd, of Dudley, were taken to Wayne County Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Harris was charged with a stop sign violation.
