Car Demolishes Randolph House

Posted July 18, 2007

— A car crashed into an abandoned house in Randolph County, completely demolishing it Tuesday evening.

The driver ran through a stop sign at a three-way intersection and straight into the house, said State Highway Patrol officers.

The house is located at 5077 Lewis Brown Road,  right on the Randolph County/Chatham County line.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was flown to UNC Hospitals but did not suffer life-threatening injuries, said troopers.

Police said charges against the driver are pending.

Sounds like a medical condition prompted the trip to the hospital rather than injuries sustained from the actual crash.

I'm curious as to whether the driver fell asleep or was drunk or high. Why do you air lift someone that doesn't have life threatening injuries?

I was wondering the same thing.

Maybe he thought it was a Brew Thru.

If it was abandoned it may have been a rundown shack that was already about to fall to the ground. A pic would be nice for a change.

The house was abandoned...I wonder about the expense of airlifting someone with non-life threatening injuries...

You gotta wonder about the construction techniques used in a house that can be completely demolished by being hit by a car, and the occupants of the car don't even suffer any significant injuries.
