RALEIGH, N.C. — A car crashed through a house on October Road in Raleigh on Wednesday afternoon.

Raleigh fire officials said the driver drove through the dining room of the home at 1613 October Road just before 3 p.m.

The dining room and bathroom behind it were destroyed.

Homeowner Jim Morrison said he was walking downstairs when he heard what sounded like an explosion.

"I immediately run into my dining room and see this nice, white Lexus sitting in my dining room," Morrison said. "My dining room table is no where to be found and there's a woman in the car trying to get out of the car."

Morrison said the woman driving the vehicle attempted to leave the scene, but he was able to keep her there until authorities arrived.

The driver, whose name hasn’t been released, wasn’t injured. Raleigh police were trying to determine if she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.

Morrison had to vacate the home because firefighters said it isn't structurally safe.
