Car clips power pole at busy intersection in west Raleigh

Raleigh police were forced to direct traffic for about five hours early Monday near the intersection of Blue Ridge Road and Western Boulevard after a vehicle clipped a utility pole.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police were forced to direct traffic for about five hours early Monday near the intersection of Blue Ridge Road and Western Boulevard after a vehicle clipped a utility pole. 

Law enforcement officials were called the scene at about 1:20 a.m. No car was found, but traffic lights were hanging low, prompting police to call Duke Energy. 

Crews lifted the lights, allowing traffic to move through the intersection. No major delays were reported due to the work. 

No information about the car involved in the incident was released.
