Capitol Broadcasting issues retraction, apology for Opinion blog post about Art Pope

Posted Updated

On Monday, February 27, 2017, an “Outside the Box” blog post headline and story on this page wrongly reported that former state Budget Director Art Pope avoided filing a “Statement of Economic Interest” with the State Ethics Commission. He did voluntarily file such statements in 2013 and 2014 in a timely manner, even though he was not legally required to do so because he was paid less than $60,000 in annual compensation.

We apologize to Mr. Pope and our readers for the mistake and errors and retract the incorrect statements of fact that were made. Monday’s Feb. 27 blog post has been removed from the website.
