RALEIGH, N.C. — A portion of Capital Boulevard was closed in both directions for about an hour Wednesday afternoon when a utility line fell across the roadway.

The incident happened just before noon at Falls of Neuse Road near Wake Forest.

Raleigh Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said traffic was diverted to secondary roads as crews worked to clear the line. All lanes reopened shortly before 1 p.m.

Bill Crabtree, a spokesman with the town of Wake Forest, said the line fell after an oversized truck snagged it near South Main Street.

It appeared the line caught fire, burning part of the grassy median in the area.
