FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Michael Nagowski has been named president and chief executive officer of Cape Fear Valley Health System. The appointment was announced Thursday.

Nagowski will start in his new position on Jan. 14.

Since 2006, he has served as president of Buffalo General Hospital and vice president of Kaleida Health. Prior to that, he served as president of Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.

Buffalo General and Millard Fillmore hospitals are part of Kaleida Health, a not-for-profit organization and the largest health provider in western New York, serving 1 million patients annually across an eight-county region.

"This is an exciting opportunity for me, both professionally and personally," a Cape Fear press release quoted Nagowski as saying. "I look forward to working with the board of trustees, the medical staff, our employees and volunteers to serve our patients and their families."
