Cantor to campaign in NC for Rouzer's House bid

Posted February 3, 2014

— U.S. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor will travel to North Carolina on Feb. 17 to headline two fundraising events supporting David Rouzer's campaign for the Republican nomination in the 7th Congressional District.

The fundraisers will be hosted by Wilmington businessman Scott Sullivan and his wife Jane at their home and in Wallace at the home of Dell and Wendy Murphy. Dell Murphy is the son of Wendell Murphy, a major player in the pork industry.

Cantor, a Virginia Republican, also backed Rouzer's 2012 congressional bid.

Democratic Congressman Mike McIntyre has said he won't seek re-election in the 7th District.

Rouzer is expected to face New Hanover County Commissioner Woody White in the Republican primary.

""I believe in the idea of amnesty for those who have put down roots and lived here, even though sometime back they may have entered illegally," he said. " - Ronald Reagan

Atheistinafoxhole: The greatest President in my lifetime, Ronald Reagan, is dead. Times have changes as have political priorities. I may be wrong, but I do not believe I am. I will not support or vote for any politician regardless of party, who supports amnesty. I know of no friend or family member who feels differently. I also believe we are fairly representative of the more conservative wing of the GOP. I do not believe the GOP can succeed without our support. With this being said, I continue to believe if amnesty passes, the GOP loses in November. You may disagree. If it passes, we will see who is correct.

Yeah, 'cause that "amnesty" thing worked out so badly for Ronald Reagan.

I hope someone asks Cantor and Rouzer about this amnesty bill. If it passes, the Democrats will be able to run anyone and win. As a conservative, I will be unable to vote for anyone who supports or votes in favor of amnesty for illegals. I predict the GOP base will be demoralized and stay home on election day if amnesty passes.

If David Rouzer can't do any better than last time, a new candidate is needed. Mike McIntyre's "Don't touch my Medicare" ads were just so easy to counter, just show a few testimonials from seniors/caregivers as to the recent diminished Medicare under the new healthcare law (very sick elderly can't see primary doctor more often than every 90 days, liquid oxygen replaced with concentrators that stop during power failures, doctors greeting Medicare patients in parking lot and telling them to go away, ICU doctors telling all patients over a certain age they are terminal before even examining them, ...). Instead Rouzer acted like a deer in the headlights and didn't even respond until the ads had run for months. Since Rouzer was close, any competent conservative could have won last time.

Scent of Koch bros. $. Otherwise Cantor wouldn't even know where NC is. THINK PEOPLE!

I'm sure the scent of these fundraising events will be enough to even overpower the local hogs.
