RALEIGH, N.C. — The Department of Transportation reminds candidates and campaigns that they need to remove campaign signs by Friday.

State law allows campaign signs to be in the state road right of way as early as 30 days before the start of early voting until 10 days after Election Day. The 10-day post-election deadline is Nov. 18.

There are still numerous campaign signs for local, state and national offices along roads and highways.

Signs still in place after the deadline are in violation of state law, and the department is authorized to remove and dispose of them.
