Camp Lejeune sailors arrested in Beaufort killings

— Two active-duty and one former Camp Lejeune sailors have been arrested in connection with the killing of a father and son outside their Beaufort home earlier this month.

WNCT News reports that Duane Correll, 50, and Albert Correll, 20, were shot and killed outside their home on Taylor Farm Road around 9:45 p.m. on June 2 as they returned from a shopping trip to Walmart.

On Friday, authorities arrested U.S. Navy corspmen Jhaden Davis, 21, and Brandon Smallwood, 23, along with Joseph Pirrotta, 24, a former Navy corpsman living in Beaufort.

Davis and Pirrotta were charged with two counts of murder and one count each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. They were placed in the Carteret County jail and denied bond.

Smallwood faces two counts of accessory after the fact of murder. He was given a $1 million bond.

    The intel here doesn't give motive; robbery? Times are rough. Would it've been easier accepted if they were our kind of folk?
    Messed up people. The Davis guy, uh well they're all rather young finks. Thx a lot. Check into the hearbreak hotel at taxpayers expense.

    The Marine Corps haven't lowered their standards.

    Other branches may have to fill quotas, but the Marine Corps strength can never be more than 10% of the total strength of the Navy, so they have little trouble filling that number.

    They aren't REAL Marines. They sully the uniform. I hope the USMC steps in to deal with them and does so harshly.
