Activate Good is looking for Triangle teens and families with kids to participate in Global Youth Service Day, an international event that runs April 20 to April 22 and celebrates the power of young people to impact their community.

Activate Good hopes to sign up at least 500 young volunteers to help out and has curated a list of Earth Day-focused opportunities for teens and younger kids to choose from.

Available volunteer opportunities are listed on Activate Good's Teen Day 2018 website while spots last. If you can't help out that weekend in April, you can email Activate Good at schools@activategood.org to find other opportunities.

“Since 2005, Activate Good has sought to inspire youth to get involved in our community, not just adults," Amber Smith, Activate Good's executive director, said in a press release. "Teens have a unique creativity and passion when it comes to tackling community issues, but they are so rarely invited to get involved. It’s time we change that.”

Raleigh-based Activate Good is designated 2018 Global Youth Service Day Lead Agency, mobilizing young people in the Triangle to fill community needs through service, according to the press release. It's working with the Young Professionals Network of the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, the City of Raleigh, Triangle Land Conservancy, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, the Town of Garner, and other groups.

Related, but unrelated: Activate Good also has opened registration for its Teen Leadership and Service Summer Program. The week-long, intensive program will give teens the opportunity to develop leadership skills while learning about community issues. It's designed for rising freshmen through rising seniors. Weeks are scheduled in June and July. The cost is $300 per teen.
