Call prompts lockdown at Fuquay-Varina Elementary

​Fuquay-Varina Elementary School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after police received a call in connection to the school.

FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — ​Fuquay-Varina Elementary School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after police received a call in connection to the school.

According to investigators, an employee was threatened by her spouse, prompting the lockdown at about 2:15 p.m.

A Wake County Public Schools System spokeswoman said a number of police cars were on scene while an investigation was underway. The campus was safe and secure throughout the incident, she said.

No additional information was immediately available.
