Posted August 27, 2013

— Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. can offer up to 840 employee buyouts at six U.S. plants, including one in Fayetteville, under a new contract approved last week by members of the United Steelworkers.

Under provisions of the labor contract, Goodyear is able to offer 200 buyouts at its Buffalo, N.Y., plant and 400 buyouts at Fayetteville and four other plants. The company also can offer of up to 240 discretionary buyouts, or 15 percent of the workforce, at the plants.

The Fayetteville plant employs about 2,500 workers.
