Busted water line shuts down Fayetteville road

— Morganton Road in Fayetteville is shut down in both directions at Virginia Avenue due to a busted water line underground, which has left freezing water on the road, according to police.

    Busted. Cringe. Calling police officers "cops" is another one that crawls under my skin. Unprofessional.

    @ Rolling Along & NCWiseGuy...I guess they are writing headlines that all can understand and relate to! lol that's my story and I'm sticking to it :)

    I have had exchanges with a WRAL editor over the use of informal and colloquial English, obviously to no avail.

    Not to mention the total lack of information in some articles.

    I took journalism classes over 30 years ago, and what passes for journalism today would have caused a flunking grade then.

    mmmm.......the censors over at wraltv must be getting slack.

    use of the word "busted" is slang and generally not indicative of good english description.

    i believe the more appropriate wording should be "........broken water line........."

    come on guys. i know its monday. buck up!!!!!
