Raleigh seeks technology ideas
A $5,000 prize will be awarded this weekend to the person or group with the top technology idea for the City of Raleigh, organizers of CityCamp Raleigh said.
Posted — UpdatedCityCamp is a collaboration between city officials and others to find next-generation solutions for streamlining procedures, sharing information and challenges with new technology.
The event, referred to as an “unconference,” is set for Friday through Sunday.
Conference organizers are seeking input from citizens as well as technology professionals, businesses and non-profit groups.
The cash prize will be based on creativity, execution and feasibility.
Sponsors for CityCamp Raleigh include WRAL.com and Red Hat, the world’s top open source Linux software developers and services provider.
Event speakers include City Manager Russell Allen, Red Hat Vice President of Open Source Affairs Michael Tiemann and Jimmy Goodmon, vice president and general manager of Capitol Broadcasting New Media.
The “unconference” format includes participation by attendees in an open exchange of ideas.
