Gov. Bev Perdue blogged Friday about her trip to Europe. "I’m overseas right now, trying to bring jobs back to North Carolina," she wrote.
She traveled with a team of business recruiters and education and tourism leaders to Germany and Sweden to urge companies there to visit and invest in North Carolina.
Perdue's office said the governor and her husband paid their own way on the trip. The rest of the trade mission will cost the state $44,000.
More than 150 German companies have operations in North Carolina, and Bayer CropScience, Deutsche Bank, Siemens Energy and Siemens Medical have announced major expansions in the past 16 months, according to the Governor's Office.
