Forbes: Raleigh is good for business

Posted April 14, 2010

— The Triangle is the third-best metropolitan area for business, according to rankings compiled by

Forbes Best Places for Business and Careers

The study took into account higher education opportunities, economic and population growth, income and employment rates in ranking metro areas nationwide.

While income dropped in the Triangle during the study period, the area retains a high median household income ($54,076) and low cost of living.

Forbes found the “cost of doing business,” an index based on cost of labor, energy, taxes and office space, in Raleigh to be among the lowest in the nation. In March, Forbes named Raleigh “America’s Most Wired City.”

Well said "wildervb". The Obama bashers have very short memories.
This collapse started many years ago. I am not totally blaming
Bush. Congress should get most of the blame. Washington is just too
    far entrenched in corporate America.
The housing bubble going burst was being predicted a few years in advance
    by economists interviewed on NPR.

I don't understand all of the people who are complaining about the unemployment rate, and when a report comes out that will bring new business(with JOBS) you are still complaining.

Somewhere in the past, someone thought the same about your ancestors.

    Lexus, Unemployed = Greedy? How?

  • Caveman93 Apr 14, 2010

Wild, you're kidding me right? It's spring right, and I am in lending right? and I am not lending. No one is asking for loans and the ones asking for them cannot be approved. I havn't had a raise in 2 years, no more 401k match, price of gas is up, no more overtime, my healthcare premium is going up 34%, my grocery bill has shot up 50% from last years and I don't buy anything different, my home is paid in full and I cannot even get a 2nd mortgage and I have perfect credit! Oh yeah, I live in a subdivision with 30+ homes for sale and 7 are for rent. What numbers are you looking at?

If you are unemployed, you are either lazy, greedy, or plain dumb. Please tell me which one you are. Every person at my job who was laid off is working. One guy has had 4 different jobs since the layoff last January. NO EXCUSES YOU LAZY BUMS. for your life. The entire world is collapsing. Can I have all your money? You wont need it soon, right?

"Wild, We have not avoided any depression we're in the beginning throws of a long and drawn out collapse. They want you to think we have avoided it but it's just not true because all the numbers are wrong."

What do you mean the numbers are wrong? GDP growth is now in a positive direction, Manufacturing has been growing (slowly) for the last 6 months, Banks are turning profits, in fact, many companies are turning profits (and have cash to spend), Retail sales have been rising and employment finally took a positive turn in March. It looks to me like the numbers are going in the right direction.
