RALEIGH, N.C. — Progress Energy wants to control your air conditioner this summer.
Customers who volunteer for the "EnergyWise" program would allow Progress to control their thermostat during periods of peak eletricity demand.
In return, they would get a $25 credit on their bill.
Progress pitched the program to N.C. Utilities Commission Tuesday as part of an effort to control demand during the summer months.
