Call Center Operator to Add 109 Jobs in Cary

RALEIGH, N.C. — Healthways, a Tennessee-based company, will add 109 jobs at its call center in Cary as part of a $2 million expansion over the next three years.

The firm, which offers medical advice and information to help individuals stay healthy, already has 132 workers at the Cary facility. The average weekly wage for the new jobs is $1,250 per week plus benefits. Healthways works with clients such as health-care providers to reduce medical costs.

Healthways will receive a $40,000 One North Carolina Fund grant from the state of North Carolina. A local match is required. Gov. Mike Easley's office announced the grant and expansion.

“This area has been a great fit for Healthways, offering the kind of skilled and empathetic nurse and professional work force that our work demands,” Nick Balog, senior vice president of operations for Healthways, said in a statement. “As a company focused on improving quality of life for the members in our programs, Healthways also is focused on locating our offices in areas that offer our employees a high quality of life, which Wake County certainly does.”

Healthways (NASDAQ: HWAY) reported revenues of more than $117 million and a profit topping $11 million in the third quarter of 2006. Its headquarters is in Nashville.

Also participating in the job recruitment process were the N.C. Department of Commerce, the Cary Chamber of Commerce and Progress Energy.
