SANFORD, N.C. — A company that makes engineered plumbing products will expand its Sanford operation, creating 38 jobs in the next three years, officials said Wednesday.

Zurn Industries plans to invest $40,000 in the expansion, which the company said would broaden the product line and allow the company to serve customers more quickly.

“This facility expansion is only one of many investments Zurn will be making for improving service levels across all regions for our customers,” Scott McDowell, Zurn's general manager of commercial brass, said in a statement.

The average wage for the new jobs will be $33,356, plus benefits. Lee County's average annual wage is $36,608.

Zurn qualified for a $38,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, which provides financial assistance to attract business projects to the state. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job and investment targets to obtain the funds.
