Verizon Spends $175 Million on N.C. Network Upgrades

Verizon Wireless invested more than $175 million in network upgrades for its North Carolina network in 2005.

Enhancements included additional cell sites, updating others, purchases of additional wireless spectrum in 17 counties, and launching of high-speed data services known as EV-DO.

Verizon has spent more than $385 million on its state network over the past five years.
