IBM Offers Help for Web Users With Disabilities

IBM is introducing independent software developers and vendors a variety of products designed to help make technology more available and usable by aging workers and those with disabilities.

Products and applications are being presented at IBM's PartnerWorld Conference in Las Vegas this week.

Among the products demonstrated is a new version of Home Page Reader, a "talking" web browser that is available in eight languages (Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, English, Thai and Japanese.)

Also available are aDesigner, which offers tools to web developers such as the ability to check degrees of color contrast; and Easy Web Browsing, which is designed for workers who suffer from vision problems. Another product, Web Adapt 2, is designed to help people with vision limitations to customize how web pages are presented.
