Durham, N.C. — Martin Murphy, founder of AlphaMed Consulting and a member of the scientific advisory board at Pappas Ventures in the Triangle, has joined the board of directors at Aldagen.
Aldagen is exploring development of regenerative therapies using stem cells.
Murphy also is the founding executive editor of the peer-reviewed journals “Stem Cells” and “The Oncologist.”
Murphy is also actively involved in the CEO Roundtable on Cancer organization.
"Marty is both an accomplished entrepreneur and a widely recognized thought leader in stem cells,” said Tom Amick, Aldagen’s CEO. “He brings a valuable network of physicians and scientists within top-tier research institutes that will help us advance current products as well as develop new product opportunities.”
Aldagen closed on $17 million in venture financing in December.
The company also hired Matthew Czajkowski, who helped take Pozen public and helped lead turnaround at AAIPharma, as its chief financial officer last week.
