Red Hat Acquires Amentra, a Systems Integrator

Red Hat is acquiring Amentra, a systems integrator with a national presence, as part of its effort to drive more enterprise customer adoption of its Linux software, JBoss middleware and other services.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Amentra operates offices in Charlotte, Richmond, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Tampa. It has more than 140 employees.

The company provides service-oriented architecture, business process management, systems development and enterprise data services.

According to Information Week, Amentra “has longstanding expertise in JBoss Java middleware and is likely to become a consulting services branch devoted to JBoss implementations.” Customers include Verizon, Merck and Circuit City.

Red Hat (NYSE: RHT) launched its “Enterprise Acceleration” initiative last month.

“We are excited to have Amentra become an important part of the JBoss Enterprise Acceleration initiative,” said Craig Muzilla, vice president of middleware business at Red Hat. “The depth of solution-oriented consulting services provided by Amentra will help enterprises begin deploying JBoss Enterprise Middleware products with confidence.”
