KANNAPOLIS — Anatomics, an Australian firm that produces medical implants, will open an office at the North Carolina Research Campus.
The office will serve as Anatomics’ headquarters in the U.S. As many as five people will be hired for the operation, the Kannapolis Independent Tribune reported.
“We are excited to locate our U.S. Head Office and manufacturing facility on the North Carolina Research Campus and are looking forward to working personally with the regional health care community as well as the list of impressive companies here at the campus.” said Larry Ward, the chief executive officer for Anatomics’ U.S. business unit.
Anatomics produces customized implants for use in craniofacial surgery. The company also makes biomodels based on CT scans of a patient for use in pre-surgical procedure planning and design of implants. The company was formed in 1996.
The N.C. Research Campus is being built at the site of a former textile plant in Kannapolis by billionaire David Murdock.
Other firms locating offices on the campus include Linux software developer Red Hat.
