Raleigh firm buys Swedish maker of children's furniture

A Raleigh company that markets children's products has acquired a Swedish firm that designs and manufactures highchairs, bouncers and furniture for children.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh company that markets children's products has acquired a Swedish firm that designs and manufactures highchairs, bouncers and furniture for children.

Terms of Scandinavian Child LLC's acquisition of Svan AB weren't disclosed.

“We have distributed Svan’s products in North America for many years and share a passion for safety, functionality and innovative design,” Brenda Berg, founder and chief executive of Scandinavian Child, said in a statement. “This acquisition gives SCI brand ownership of award-winning and classically designed juvenile products and solidifies our commitment to bringing the best children’s products to families around the world."

Svan's products have been marketed under the Svan and Anka brands.

Svan Chief Executive Kjell Hagström will join Scandinavian Child as vice president of design.
