Walmart is seeking about 300 employees for a new store to open on Fayetteville Road later this summer.

The retailer began accepting applications at a hiring center at 139 Northview Drive May 19. People can apply in person at the center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or <a href="http://walmartstores.com/Careers/7745.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">online</a>.

Kyle Gordon, the manager of the new store, said he is looking for both full- and part-time associates at all levels, including supervisory positions.

According to the Danville Police Department, officers received a tip of prior animal abuse at a pet grooming store on Hairston Street in Danville. In the complaint, a video showed the employee, identified as 22-year-old Cassidy Gill, striking a dog in January and February. The video in the complaint was shared with other social media accounts, including PETA.
