Durham, N.C. — “The Garage,” a popular eatery and Bull City landmark for 15 years, has closed its doors.
“It’s time to make a change and move on to new ventures,” said Giorgios Bakatsias, the founder, in a statement issued Monday. “It’s sad to see The Garage close, because it has become a favorite of so many for many reasons.”
Covering 15,000 square feet, The Garage was home to a restaurant, bakery, prepared foods market, bar, lounge and sushi bar.
It closed July 3.
The lease on the property at 737 Ninth Street had expired.
According to the statement, property owners Terry Sanford Jr. and Clay Hamner plan to redevelop the property.
