FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Despite the financial meltdown, business is soaring at Fayetteville Regional Airport.

About 181,000 people passed through the airport between January and November, meaning airport traffic was up 14 percent over a year ago, officials said.

By the time the year ends, the number of departing passengers is expected to top 195,000, officials said.

Officials cited lower ticket prices for the US Airways and Delta Connection flights out of the airport for the growth.
