Apex company downsizes

Apex, N.C. — Stock Building Supply in Apex laid off some employees Wednesday. Company spokeswoman Missy Hatley said the reduction in force was in response to current economic conditions.

"While it is a difficult decision, the company must adjust labor to meet market demands while continuing to ensure high levels of service to our customers," Hatley said.

The company did not release the number of jobs cut, or make any assurances that the cuts had come to an end, saying "We will adjust to the market, as we have been doing for the past 26 months."
