RALEIGH, N.C. — WakeMed hospitals in Raleigh and Cary provide good medical value, according to a report released Tuesday.

Data Advantage LLC, which compiles and analyzes data for the health care industry, created an index to measure the relative value of care that hospitals provide to patients. The company looked at 1,500 hospitals in the 100 largest U.S. metro areas and crunched numbers for their quality of care, efficiency and affordability, patient satisfaction and reputation.

The index determined that the Raleigh-Cary market ranked 67th nationally in medical value and that WakeMed Raleigh and WakeMed Cary provided the best value in the market.

Rex Healthcare, Duke Health Raleigh Hospital, Johnston Memorial Hospital and Franklin Regional Medical Center were also reviewed in the index.

The index didn't cover the Durham-Chapel Hill metro area, so Duke University Hospital, Durham Regional Hospital and UNC Hospitals were not included.
